2026 NYC Parks GreenThumb T-Shirt Design Contest

Submit your original design to the 2026 NYC Parks GreenThumb T-Shirt Design Contest based on the theme: Soil & Soul: Where Hands Get Dirty and Hearts Connect /
Tierra & Alma: Donde las Manos se Ensucian y los Corazones se Conectan.

Pick up a pen, crayon, pencil, or whatever you use to draw, and submit your artwork to our t-shirt design contest! The winning design will appear on GreenThumb t-shirts, worn by hundreds of gardeners all over the city. Applicants may submit up to three entries. 
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, October 8, 2025 

Guidelines:

1. Artwork must relate to the theme: Soil & Soul: Where Hands Get Dirty and Hearts Connect / Tierra & Alma: Donde las Manos se Ensucian y los Corazones se Conectan.
   
2. Be creative with your design and try to use visual images and symbols that have not been included in past designs. See image above for some examples of past designs. Think outside of the garden box!
   
3. The beginning of the theme in English and Spanish (Soil & Soul / Tierra & Alma) must be included in the artwork. The second part of the theme (Where Hands Get Dirty and Hearts Connect / Donde las Manos se Ensucian y los Corazones se Conectan) is optional to include.
   
4. Artwork must be original and created by the applicant; no clip art or Artificial Intelligence allowed.
   
5. Designs must be in black and white only.
   
6. Artwork must be credited to the artist.
   
7. Open to all artists of all ages and backgrounds, but preference is given to GreenThumb gardeners.
   
8. Entries must include name, address, garden affiliation (if applicable), and phone number.  
   
9. Submissions from children and youth are highly encouraged. If you are under the age of 18, please include your age on the entry.
   
10. GreenThumb logo will be incorporated by NYC Parks into the winning design in consultation with the artist.
